Situated on 4.2 acres of land in the heart of downtown, The Alamo, is a must-see destination when visiting San Antonio, Texas. A famous historical site of the Battle of the Alamo from 1836, it is the hub of Texas history and the Texas Revolution which granted Texas' independence from Mexico. The Alamo compound now features beautiful gardens, a complex of historic buildings, and a museum containing artifacts from the era, detailing over 300 years of history and the role of this Spanish Mission. Admission to the Alamo is free and just a short walk from the Riverwalk.
