Rules of Reverence

The Alamo has an inimitable set of rules to keep its status as the Shrine of Texas Liberty. The hallowed ground requires certain rules of reverence, including
  • Gentlemen, please remove your hats inside the Shrine.
  • No open containers, food or drinks are allowed in the buildings.
  • Photographs are not allowed.
  • Cell phone use is not permitted inside.
  • No pets are allowed on the grounds (service animals allowed).
  • No obscene or offensive clothing is allowed.


Preservation of the Alamo is tip priority to ensure the legacy continues. Structural preservation restores the buildings to a specific time period and eliminates deterioration and erosion from elements. Please be patient if touring the buildings during a preservation period.
